I was going through some articles today when i stumbled upon an insightful quote by Rabindranath Tagore: “The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has enough time”… Just ponder upon this for a while: What we live in 80 years, a butterfly lives in a year. who lives a better life?
We humans are blessed to be the beings who live close to a century, who have the most prized asset: knowledge and who have the ability to take decisions and live their life in a way they want to. But are we appreciating all that we possess?
A butterfly flies from one flower to another, soaking in the beauty of nature as well as putting a smile on every human’s face that comes it’s way. It is living it’s life to love what it has and to give what it can. Such selflessness in a creature smaller than your hand!
Doesn’t this make you wonder about how much time you are wasting cribbing about your life? You are provided with so many beautiful moments, which you don’t even care to notice. How many times do you get up in the morning and thank God for the life you have? When do you go out and look at the sky and the trees and the birds and the people around you and admire them? Do you pass a smile at people who cross your way while you are walking to work?
A moment you give to yourself, you live. A moment you live for others, you give! It is such a simple equation which gives happiness to you and the people around you. I acknowledge the fact that to survive in this world in this century, you would have to run at the speed of light or else you would be left behind this metaphorical race. However, having said that, I would just like to state that when you are towards the end of this contest, when you have attained every material thing that you ran for, do you want to be sitting somewhere sequestered realizing that it’s the end and you did not make the most of it, or do you want to be sitting somewhere content, amazed and peaceful cherishing the moments that came along the race.
The choice is yours, you are the creator of your own destiny!
